The Story

I'm Gustavo, the designer, maker, and founder behind this brand. Born in Brazil, building in Vancouver.

Sewing runs in my family. My grandmother sews, and her father was a tailor. I didn't think it would become my path. Until 2021, when I made my first shirt and realized I couldn't stop.

At the time, I was working in restaurants. Every shift, I wore the same kind of shirt: safe, neutral, forgettable. I wanted something that felt like me. So I decided to make it myself.

What started as one shirt became a vision. Today I still work in restaurants while I build this brand on the side, one order at a time. Every piece passes through my hands from start to finish, cut and sewn here in Vancouver.

One day I want this to be my full-time work. Until then, every hour I put into GUSTAVO NERI is an hour spent on something I actually believe in.

Brazil isn't just where I'm from. It's part of how I see everything. Color, design, the way things feel.

No matter where I am, that stays with me. It shows up in the way I choose a palette, the way I think about a silhouette, the way I believe clothing should make you feel something and not just cover you.

I didn't move to Vancouver and leave that behind. I brought it with me, and I put it into every piece I make.
