ORIGENS means origins in Portuguese.
It's the name of the collection I'm presenting at Vancouver Fashion Week on Saturday, October 17, 2026. It's also the most personal thing I've made so far.
Where it starts
I was born in Rio de Janeiro. My family moved away when I was only three months old. A year later, back in Rio, I took my first steps.
I don't remember it. But I've heard the story so many times that it feels like mine.
That's what this collection is about. The things that shape you before you can choose them.
Not nostalgia
When people hear "origin," they think of looking back. I don't see it that way.
ORIGENS is about continuity. What came before me lives in the piece I make now.
Sewing runs in my family. The climate I grew up in decides the fabrics I reach for. The colours of the places I come from show up in my work without me asking. I didn't have to go looking for any of it. It was already there.
How it's made
I designed ORIGENS between Brazil and Canada. It's built on natural materials: linen, cotton and silk. Fabrics that breathe and get better with wear.
There's an embroidery technique in this collection that's very common in Brazil, including Richelieu. It's a technique where the fabric is stitched first, then cut away to open the pattern. It's slow work. That's the point.
Every piece is cut and sewn one at a time.
Eight looks, eight names
Each look has a name. Mountains, rivers, a tree, places that stayed with me.
Corcovado. Copacabana. Sapucaia. Mauá. Capibaribe. Ibituruna. Jequitibá. Capilano.
Most of them come from Brazil. The last one comes from Vancouver, the city where I'm building this brand. Because origin isn't only where you start. It's also where you keep going.
I'm not showing the looks yet. They belong to the runway first.
See you on October 17
ORIGENS walks at Vancouver Fashion Week on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at David Lam Hall in Vancouver.
